After identifying the source of the sewer problem from the roof vent stack, we tracked the line 35 feet to the junction between the cast iron and clay pipes. Here, we encountered a significant root intrusion, blocking further access. The line was located three feet deep beneath asphalt, requiring careful planning for the next steps.
To resolve the issue and start the sewer line repair, we excavated a three-foot area at the front of the house, exposing both the existing cast iron line and the new PVC sewer line. We then installed a 6-inch PVC cleanout, connecting the house sewer to the new pipe system. This installation was inspected and approved by the village to ensure compliance with local codes.
Afterward, we backfilled the hole, jetted the sewer line to clear any remaining obstructions, and completed a final video inspection to confirm successful repair.
